GREED Page 11
"Okay fine, I've got a third idea. Come on." I laughed, standing up and grabbing her hand. She seemed to freeze up a bit, staring at our hands.
"No Ace, I'm your maid. See this is why I suck at my job." She laughed, the nervousness gone.
"Yeah that's why." I smirked, "if you're not coming, I'll make you come." I smiled devilishly.
"No, no! I'm coming." She hopped out of her seat. She was afraid of heights so she hated when I carried her.
I wonder how she'll feel on a roller coaster.
Summer Gray
"Aiden. No. No. No. No." I whined as he pulled up in the parking lot of our local amusement park.
"Why not? It'll be fun. We can conquer your fears together." He smirked.
"That was the cheesiest thing you've ever said." I laughed. "Take me elsewhere."
"I can take you anywhere." He winked. This nasty minded man.
"Aiden I'm serious!" I crossed my arms, "I'm not leaving this car until you take me somewhere else."
"Summer come on it'll be fun." He got out of the car and walked to my side, I locked the door.
He unlocked it with his car keys.
"Don't do this." He sighed, shaking his head. I could see the wheels turning in his mind as I remained silent and unmoving.
"Okay then." He smirked.
"No Aiden, go away." I reached for the door again but he held my hand. It was getting dark as we were one of the only 10 cars in the parking lot. Tingles crept up my hands as my eyes landed on our hands A small part of me never wanted him to let go, but a bigger part told me about Ryder.
"Suit yourself." He took my moment of silence as an opportunity to reach into the car and grab my waist. I pulled back quickly as he landed on top of me.
"Well hello there gorgeous, I'm Aiden." He winked.
"Aiden get off of me."
"If you don't want to ride the rides in there, you're welcome to stay in here and we can ride each other." He winked, his hand behind my head and the other on my waist. I almost bumped my head on the steering wheel. He did not just say that.
"You're disgusting. Is that how you get girls?" I laughed pushing him off me, his knee between my legs.
"Usually." He winked. I felt a bit jealous. But as soon as the feeling hit, it was gone.
He grabbed my arms and pulled me out of the car, shutting the door and locking the car before I could run back in.
It all happened so fast, I almost got knocked into the car next to us by the speed and force which he pulled me out, but quickly he pulled me back and into him. My heart rate increased quickly as his warmth engulfed me.
"Let's go then." He smirked again. I glared at him, looking up into his amazing blue eyes. My eyes briefly scanned his lips and looked away quickly.
"No." I tried to say but it came out as a whisper. I had trouble speaking with him so close. Stop it Summer. I pulled away quickly.
"Quit being so childish!" He exclaimed, grabbing my legs and tripping me, he caught me just seconds before I hit the ground. "How's that for your hero," he chuckled. I smiled widely, his expression was too cute. Quit it Summer.
"Okay Fine!" I gave in, only because my body was reacting insanely to him,"I'll walk." I said, deciding that if I was going to die of fear today, might as well try to elongate my life. I walked ultra slowly.
"Hurry up slow-poke, they close in fifteen minutes." Perfect, now I just had to make my entry last fifteen minutes.
Aiden turned around and looked at me, he contemplated something then decided to toss me over his shoulder.
"Aiden! No! I don't want to die! Roller coasters will kill me! I'm gonna puke on you!" I complained as he paid for our admission.
"She's drunk." He said.
"No I am not!" I shouted, "Aiden put me down, please." My voice shook nervously as he trudged along and sat on the Rollercoaster. "Aiden, please." I squeaked. He quickly buckled me in.
"Fine Summer, just one time, for me?"
I looked at him. This is his way of saying agree or I'll make you agree.
"Okay thanks Great! I'll wait over there." I began trying to untie the seat belt on me. I felt the roller coaster stumble and start. Fear overtook me as I began screaming uncontrollably.
"Aiden!" I screamed, fear clouding me. "Get me out of here! I'm going to die!"
"Don't look down." He whispered dangerously, the coaster slowly moved up.
Aiden Black
The coaster was barely moving and already she was screaming. I laughed out loud, staring at her fear filled face.
I grabbed her hand and the random screaming seemed to subside a bit.
And then it came. The fall. She looked at me, a horror stricken face as I gave her an apologetic look. I'm not sorry.
She and the other three people on the coaster began screaming their heads off while I threw our arms in the air.
"Aiden!" She shouted, her voice shaking, " I hate you!"
As soon as the fall turned into a giant loop she started screaming once again. Nobody was screaming, this was seriously the most boring ride ever.
"Let's go again!" She yelled as the ride ended. "That was amazing! Oh my goodness, talk about the ride of my life!" She screamed happily as people began leaving, sending glares her way.
"The amusement park will close in five minutes please make your exits." A loud announcement came on.
"I guess it's over," I smirked, "Come on Summer."
She glared at me as I held her hand and stepped out of the roller coaster.
We walked out of the amusement park and into the car.
"Once you get over the fact that you might die, it's not all that bad." She laughed, sitting in the car.
I turned toward her. She shyly looked away. Pleased, I smirked and started the engine. We would be spending what's left of today and tomorrow together, might as well make the best of it.
I smiled at her, driving out of the amusement park and to my favorite ice cream parlor.
"Oh I love Wendy's!" She smiled, still excited from the roller coaster ride.
This time I didn't have to drag her out of the car.
We walked into Wendy's and stood in line.
The old lady standing there smiled at me, then she began glaring.
"You're Aiden Black aren't you! What are you doing with him young lady! He corrupted my daughter!" She yelled. The crowded place began looking at me as a few girls I knew began twirling their hair. I smirked.
"Relax, I can't corrupt her, she's strictly religious, you know, her parents are preachers and they trust me enough to take her out for a night. No sex of course. " I lied as Summer stifled a laugh.
"You better not!" The lady warned. Then she turned toward Summer. "What would you like to order dear?"
"Two ice cream sundaes?" She looked at me questioningly.
"I don't serve scoundrels." The lady announced.
"Look, if my preacher parents let me go somewhere with him, then he clearly isn't a scoundrel. Aiden's changed." She added, her eyes glancing at me.
I felt my heart clench and tumble, her words made me feel like I was on top of the world.
"Fine, just for you missy, but don't come crying when you lose your virginity tonight!" The lady said, handing us the ice cream.
"I won't." She smiled sweetly at the lady, sending a look my way. I smirked back.
We took a seat, all eyes seemed to be on us. People must be going crazy.
Summer Gray
"Aiden," I whispered, staring at him. He looked up so slowly, I couldn't handle his intense blue gaze. I gestured to the annoying eyes staring at us.
"Let's get out of here?" He asked as I nodded. We immediately stood up and began heading to the door.
"Don't fall for his charms!" The old lady at counter said.
"What charms?" I replied as she smiled at me.
He held the door open for me. That's a first. I took a seat and began eating my icecream. When did Aiden Black become less Aiden Black?
"So, Homecoming with Ryder?"
He chuckled. "Good luck keeping him in one spot."
"What?" I asked, staring at him confused. I hadn't fully forgiven Ryder for what he'd done. Not yet anyway.
"Nothing." He smirked.
"Well, what about you and all the girls you've corrupted?" I replied. He ignored me, clutching the steering wheel and quickly backing out.
"Where are we going?" I asked again.
"You'll see."
"Just tell me!" I laughed, staring at him.
"You will see my dear Summer Gray." He smirked, glancing at me.
We drove in silence for almost an hour until he pulled up at the beach.
"The beach! It's freezing!"
"Perfect for skinny dipping." He winked. I looked at him in disbelief, maybe he hadn't changed that much.
"So you drove all this way to ask me if I could go skinny dipping?" I stared at him.
"I figured you'd say no. So instead I thought we'd have a picnic." He smiled widely, not a half smile or smirk or anything.
A real genuine smile. I felt my heart melt. Stop it, Summer.
That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done, it even topped Ryder's homecoming proposal. It was so thoughtful of him.
I smiled at him as he squeezed my hand. He walked out of the car, putting his sweater on and opened the trunk. He took something out and walked over to my side, holding the door open.
Seriously, what has happened to this guy. He's changed a lot.
He smiled, he looked adorable. In his hand he held a huge picnic basket, like the classic large ones seen in movies. I stepped out of the car, looking at him in confusion.
He reached for my hand, shivers ran through me, not only from his touch, but also because it was freezing. He handed me the basket. Typical.
"So what're we doing here? It's like negative ninety degrees." I complained, watching him take off his red sweater. I felt my heart melt even more, it was more like a puddle now, a boiling puddle.
He handed me his sweater. I felt like the wicked witch of the west in Wizard of Oz when she melted completely. What. Is. Happening. To. Me.
"This isn't some territorial, male dominance thing is it?" I asked, smiling. Seriously when did he get so sweet.
"No," he laughed, "you're cold so. . ."
"But you're cold too."
"Summer take the damn sweater before I change my mind." He laughed, placing it over my head. It smelled so much like him, well of course it would, it was his sweater.
We walked to a semi lighted area where the grass and sand met. A tall tree stood there. He put down the picnic basket as I struggled to put on his sweater.
After a few minutes of struggling, I felt a hand on my shoulder as he began pulling it down. I had my head in the sleeve. He was laughing as he pulled the sweater down and I placed my arms in it. My eyes landed on the blanket on the ground and the beautiful fake candle he had in the center.
I couldn't handle how many feelings were passing through me.
I randomly hugged him, my head on his chest, I heard his heart racing. But I wasn't planning on pointing that out and ruin this sweet side of him.
"What was that for?" He gave me a half grin when I finally released him.
"In case this is some dream and when I wake up the real Aiden will be back." I laughed taking a seat on the carpet.
I was oddly comfortable with him, I've never felt so comfortable around anyone. Not even Ryder who I've dated for two years of my life.
He sat, leaning on the tree and pulled me into his chest. We sat in comfortable silence.
"So I guess you're not hungry then?" He laughed, "I was going to take you tomorrow, but I had everything today and I just thought. . ." He began, I'd never seen him without his loud ego and confidence, he seemed like the ten year old I met seven years ago. But all grown up. He seemed nervous.
"Aiden, it's perfect. Thank you." I smiled as he sat up.
"Yeah, don't I deserve a thank you kiss?" He laughed, his regular self returning. But in all honesty he had changed. A lot. And I really liked this newish old Aiden. I shook my head smiling.
"In your dreams." I laughed.
"I. . ." He began but changed his mind.
"You what?" I turned to face him. He had an odd emotion swimming in his eyes. Something I'd never seen before.
Before I knew it, his face seemed to be closing in on mine. His eyes went from my lips and back to my eyes. As though asking for permission. I stared at him, frozen unable to move.
My eyes locked with his, my heart raced, butterflies exploded in my belly, and I felt like I was entranced with his eyes. His perfect ocean blue eyes. I was surrounded by him, his scent, his eyes, his lips. And I wanted it all.
But one annoying thought crept in my head.
Ryder.
Chapter 17: Fight
Aiden Black
"Aiden, I'm really sorry." She stood outside my bedroom door, an apologetic look in her eyes. She began walking away. I was staring at her, speechless.
She looked stunning in that lighting.
I hopped out of my bed immediately, running after her and grabbed her hand. She turned toward me, jolts like electricity ran up my arm. I'd never felt anything like it before. It was better than sex, and that's saying something.
She turned toward me, I could see the effect I had on her. It wasn't hard to tell that she has a certain degree of liking to me. I knew I did, have a certain liking to me. Not to her.
"Summer, can we talk?" I had a worried smile on my face. Recalling last night and our almost kiss.
It had become mid-day and we hadn't talked to each other once.
"Yeah, sure, what about? Your trying to make me cheat yesterday?" She asked, throwing her words around, she tended to do that when she was upset and so did I. She looked cutest when she was mad, a bit like Amy actually.
"What? No!" I was baffled, staring at her, I took a step closer, my heart was racing.
It never races. Ever.
"We still haven't talked about firing me, what was Amy talking about?" She stared at the ground.
"We're getting a second maid, that's all." I smiled, placing a hand on her arm. She looked up to meet my eyes, a small smile on her face.
She turned her head to look at my hand, her cheeks turning pink.
"Aren't I good enough?" She laughed. I felt an emotion beyond anything I'd felt before. Just by looking at her, I'd felt like I was in heaven.
"Summer Gray." I smirked walking closer, a devious look on my face.
"Aiden! No!" She laughed, backing away as I tossed her over my shoulder and began walking down the stairs.
"Aiden! what do you think you're doing?!" Ryder's annoying voice spoke in my living room. Who let him in?
"None of your business." I said, I felt Summer stiffen up, like she'd suddenly died. I put her down, she had fear pasted on her face. We'd come so close to kissing so many times, that I was actually about to go insane.
"Then leave her alone! She quits!" He shouted.
"You don't control her! She can do whatever the hell she wants." I shouted back, tackling the ugly asshole. He fell back, knocking down a vase on the table, I threw wild punches at him. I've been wanting to do this for a long long time.
He tried to throw a punch at me and missed. I grinned deviously, holding my arm up, ready for the next punch.
"Aiden, get off!" Amy yelled, "Ryder was here to see me. Thanks for ruining it!" Amy shouted. What would she want from him? I looked at the blood on my knuckles and the cut on Ryder's jaw.
I felt like the whole world was against me.
"You know what, man, I don't give a fuck anymore!" I shouted, walking over to Summer and kissing her.
Ryder stared at me and so did Summer. I stormed out of my house, shutting the door behind me.
Luzerne, here I come.
Summer Gray
I stood in his living room dumbfounded. My lips still tingling from our kiss and in all honesty it was the best kiss I've ever had. If only he would stop kissing
me just to show off. Our almost kiss last night was totally ruined.
"Where is he going?" I heard Amy shout. Turning her attention to Ryder, "now mister, we have important business to discuss."
The worst thing to ever do was drive angry and I didn't want anything to happen to Aiden.
The mask he puts over his feelings has to come off. And it did last night, if only for a short while.
"Summer, where the hell are you going!" Ryder shouted, his eye still red and his jaw bleeding. My body pumping with adrenaline, I wanted to do what I wanted to do. And that didn't involve Ryder.
I chased after the motorcycle, please don't get hurt Aiden.
"Aiden!" I shouted, but he couldn't hear me over the loud sounds of the engine. He drove quickly down the the street.
I quickly ran back, hopped into my car and drove after him.
My eyes landed on him.
I wish I could die so I wouldn't have to re-live what I saw next.
He was turning out of Blackberry lane when a green car came dashing at him in full speed. He avoided the car but in doing so, he ran a red light on a 55 mph zone.
A blue car, too slow to slow down, knocked him off the bike. He flew across the street. My heart burst watching him fly into the air and land on the ground. It was like his body turned into jello as he landed across the street from his motorcycle. His helmet shattered.
I felt my heart shake and fall and break and shatter all at the same time. I parked my car in front of him, in the middle of the street as I heard police sirens coming. I immediately ran to him.
"Aiden!!" I shouted, tears burning in my eyes, "Aiden wake up!!" I frantically checked for a pulse, there was a weak one, but at least there was one. His breathing was shallow. "Aiden, please!" I shouted crying on his chest, "Aiden wake up!" Tears ran down my face, staring at his unconscious body. I quickly removed his helmet, staring at his beautiful face. "Wake up!" I shouted in anguish, tears streaked down my cheeks.
It was like the whole world seemed to stop in that instant, he barely opened his eyes.
"Summer." He whispered, shutting his eyes again. I felt my heart tear into a thousand pieces. Why was this happening to him?
"Aiden! Aiden! Please!" I shouted, crying loudly. I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Wake up." I whispered, my lip quivering.
